USCIS to Publish Revised Form I-485, Rejecting Older Editions After September 18

USCIS has announced plans to publish a revised edition of Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on September 18, 2026. This new edition is designed to align with the recently announced Public Charge Ground of Inadmissibility Final Rule.
The revised form will replace the current edition, which was published on January 20, 2025. USCIS is providing a preview version of the new form and its instructions for those who want to familiarize themselves with the changes.
However, it's essential to note that there is no grace period for accepting the revised edition of Form I-485. Filing the new form before September 18, 2026, will not be accepted by USCIS.
