Manitoba's Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued 741 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) for permanent residence on August 27, 2026. This was the program's 17th selection round of the year and its largest since July 30.
The draw, labeled #278, marks a sharp rebound from the previous round. Just 53 LAAs were issued on August 13. The latest batch brings the total for 2026 to 5,616 invitations across 17 draws.
Draw Breakdown and Targeted Occupations
Draw #278 combined four separate selections. The bulk of invitations, 600 LAAs, went to top-scoring candidates already employed in Manitoba in technical trades and transportation occupations. The minimum ranking score for this group was 731 points.
A separate, occupation-specific selection targeted profiles declaring current employment in two National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 unit groups. The MPNP also invited 21 candidates who declared French as their language of communication and held a valid French language test result.

Strategic Recruitment and Candidate Warnings
Fifty-eight LAAs went to profiles submitted under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba or Skilled Worker Overseas pathways. These candidates had been directly invited by the MPNP through a strategic recruitment initiative.
The MPNP provided reasons why some eligible candidates may have been passed over. One reason is indicating a language test was taken but not providing a valid test number, or the result being expired. Another is declaring a strategic recruitment invitation without providing a valid invitation number. Candidates can update their Expression of Interest (EOI) with correct information for future draws.
The program also cautioned candidates in regulated occupations. Those selected in this draw indicated they were fully licensed to work in Manitoba. The province may refuse full applications from candidates not actually working in the regulated occupation or who cannot show completed licensing steps.
Program Context and Suspended Stream
The pattern of large draws alternating with smaller, strategic rounds has been consistent through 2026. Draw #275 on July 16 issued 2,146 LAAs, the largest of the year so far.
Meanwhile, EOI draws for the Business Investor Stream remain suspended. All EOIs received under that stream are reviewed within four weeks. The MPNP then issues either an LAA or a feedback letter.
